I’ve used Windows laptop for years, so I expected that MacBook won’t be easy to setup and it’s probably just a hype. When I got my first MacBook which is Apple’s newest MacBook Neo, I wasn’t sure how it will be. But the experience of using MacBook Neo was smooth and fun and I got used to it much faster than I thought.
Design and Display
The first thing I noticed was the aesthetic design. MacBook Neo is light, slim and still feels very solid. MacBook Neo is made with a durable recycled aluminium enclosure which is a remarkable 60% recycled content by weight – the highest ever in any Apple product.
Its weight is just 1.23 kilograms and that makes it easy to carry wherever I go – work, travel or for creative campaigns.
I don’t have to think about my back or shoulders before putting MacBook Neo in my bag.
When it comes to display, there’s nothing to complain! 13-inch Liquid Retina screen is sharp with 500 nits brightness and easy on the eyes. Whether I’m working on documents, browsing internet or watching videos and even playing games, everything looks clean and vibrant. Special mention of MacBook Neo’s keyboard which is beautiful to look and fuss free to use. Also, its Multi-Touch trackpad gives precise cursor control and support for gestures so there’s no need of separate mouse as such.
Also, do watch out for its 1080p FaceTime HD camera that provides crisp, vibrant video and 2 side-fire speakers that deliver crystal clear sound.

MacBook Neo comes in four colours. Which one will you choose?
- Silver
- Blush
- Citrus
- Indigo
Based on the public opinion what I have received, Blush and Indigo seem to be leading choices. Mine is Indigo and I love this colour that gives elegant and corporate vibes.

Performance
I’m using MacBook Neo quite extensively for a few days now for my content creation work and other common tasks like meetings, emails, invoicing and more. Performance has been smooth. I usually have multiple browser tabs open along with apps like WordPress, Microsoft Office. I also use iPhone Mirroring feature of MacBook Neo to magically pair with my iPhone. With MacBook Neo’s A18 Pro chip, everything runs without any noticeable lag. Apps open quickly and switching between them feels seamless.
It’s built for AI and includes powerful Apple Intelligence features like powerful writing tools, Apple Playground, Image clean up and more. I’m curious to see next updates where Apple Intelligence becomes even more intuitive.

Battery Life and other Specs
Battery life is like a dream for MacBook Neo users. I used to carry my charger everywhere, just in case. Now, I can easily get through a full workday on a single charge. This makes a big difference when I’m working outside or moving between places during the day. Up to 16 hours of video streaming and up to 11 hours of wireless web is very very impressive.
MacBook Neo comes with 2 USB ports – one USB 3 (USB-C) port and one USB 2 (USB-C) port and 3.5mm headphone jack. Number of ports I find sufficient for day-to-day work. I have used the ports to charge my iPhone, Apple Watch and of course to charge MacBook Neo.
This reel shares unboxing and first impressions.
As a first-time MacBook user, I found the learning curve quite gentle and straightforward . MacBook Neo keyboard features keys like Command, Option and Control that offer a wealth of shortcuts. Once I got the hang of it, it felt natural after just a few hours. The trackpad is another highlight. It’s very responsive, and gestures like scrolling, zooming, and switching apps work smoothly. As a Windows user, if you’re habituated of using mouse, you can consider getting Magic Mouse like how I bought.
Price
The price is a huge surprise starting at just SGD 849. MacBook at this price point is a steal in my opinion and whether you’re a business user, student, entrepreneur, MacBook Neo serves and how. It’s a great gifting idea too for your loved ones.
What stands out the most is how simple and reliable the overall experience feels. I haven’t experienced any slowdowns, updates or random issues. Everything just works the way it should. Also, MacBook Neo completes my Apple ecosystem of iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods.
As someone who has always used Windows laptops, using MacBook Neo felt like a cool new performance and productivity gadget. It’s not complicated or overwhelming. Once you get used to it, it makes everyday tasks smoother, faster and more convenient. For me, MacBook Neo is a welcome new addition to my gadgets.
